David Bly named as Sheffield Wednesday FC community programme’s community champion

We were thrilled to discover that David Bly our Sports Programme and Engagement Manager has been named Community Champion 2022 by Sheffield Wednesday FC’s Community Programme (SWFCCP).

The award is new to SWFCCP, so David is the first person to be awarded the title and the idea behind it is that it is a recognition award for a partner who has supported the charity.

Ben Winter SWFCCP’s Operations Manager said: “We are privileged to award David Bly with our Community Champion Award 2022 on behalf of Sheffield City Trust.

"David’s contributions to supporting the Community Programme’s initiatives have allowed us to reach more people through innovative projects such as PL Kicks, Ramadan Football, Wildcats and youth mentoring. Not only through high quality venues, but excellent community development David and the Trust have been pivotal in supporting us to deliver a high-quality service.”

David who has worked for us for 19 years and has worked with SWFCCP for ten of those is very passionate about everything he does, and this award is testament to the hard work and dedication he puts in every day. He also recently completed ten years volunteering at Acres Hill Primary School as part of Sheffield City Council’s Right to Read Scheme.

David Bly said: “I am very humbled to receive this award on behalf of Sheffield City Trust as they allow me to create opportunities for partners and communities.

“These opportunities are critical in today’s society, thank you SWFCCP.”

Paul Hudson, Head of Sports and Leisure for Sheffield City Trust said: "This is a fantastic community award that David has won and is very deserving of as he is so dedicated to making a difference where it matters and helping to break down barriers in the communities that he works with.

"It is also very befitting as he is a lifelong Owls fan!"
